Gel content determination in polyethylene

UniversalExtractor E-800: Gel content determination in polyethylene following standard ASTM D2765

A procedure for the gel content determination is introduced. Hereby, polyethylene samples, containing cross-linked and non-cross-linked material, are extracted with the UniversalExtractor E-800 using the Hot Extraction (HE) method. The gel content, which is the insoluble fraction of the sample, was determined gravimetrically. The results correspond well to the specification. This application note was developed in collaboration with Riyadh Cables.
