Prof. Simon Benita, Karin Karligano and Dr. Kailash C. Petkar will lay the focus of this webinar on the possibilities to use the Nano Spray Dryer B-90 for double encapsulation processes and drug delivery.

The following topics will be discussed:

  • encapsulation of oligonucleotides for the treatment of Duchenne disease
  • entrapment of proteins for prolonged release
  • double nano-encapsulation intended for subcutaneous, intramuscular and intravenous injections
  • preparation of nano-in-nanoparticles for potential delivery of hydrophilic macromolecules

Prof. Simon Benita

is the former director and memeber of the Institute for Drug Research and the School of Pharmacy, Faculty of Medicine at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. His current research is focused on polymeric nano and microparticulate and lipid-based drug delivery systems. Micron and nano-spray drying are being investigated to produce double nano- and micro-particulate carries for challenging proteinic pharmaceutical application.

Karin Karligano B-Sc.Pharm

is a MSc student in Prof. Simon Benita's lab at the School of Pharmacy. The focus of her research lies on the controlled release of double encapsulated biomacromolecules for efficient drug delivery. She is well experienced in using the BUCHI Nano spray dryer B-90.

Dr. Kailash C. Petkar

is a postdoctoral researcher in Prof. Benita's lab at the Institute for Drug Research. His research is focused on the formulation of complex protein and peptide molecules using micro and nano spray drying.

Aurelie Demont, Ph.D.

is an Application Chemist for spray drying and encapsulation at BUCHI, Switzerland. She has great expertise in the application of spray drying and encapsualtion in the fields of food science, biotechnology, cell culture and cell encapsulation.
