In the meantime, the SARS-CoV2 (corona) virus has spread throughout the world. Practically all countries in which BUCHI is represented have suffered severe cuts in their economic and private lives. After a period of severe measures in most countries, we now see a certain relaxation of said measures.
For BUCHI, the protection of our employees and the guarantee of support for our customers remains the top priority. Our production site in Switzerland is still working to capacity today (May 11, 2020). Our glass production in India has been partially open again since April 25, 2020, after a 5-week state-imposed lock down phase. We have been able to start production of our BUCHI glassware again together with our glass production in Switzerland, we have succeeded in preventing supply bottlenecks during this period.
Thanks to the close contact with our suppliers worldwide, we have been able to detect delivery delays early and prevent interruptions in our supply chain. We continue to regard limited shipping capacities in individual countries, especially also from India, and a massive increase in freight prices as our greatest risks. BUCHI Operations is monitoring the situation closely and will take appropriate action if necessary. As of today, we can meet our normal delivery times for most products. For products that are available with a delay, we communicate the adjusted delivery times as quickly as possible through our distribution channels.
The last few weeks have proven that our business processes are set up in such a way that they still work in quarantine cases in all countries. BUCHI has taken important measures to prevent the spread of the virus as far as possible. We rely on all recommended hygiene measures, clear physicaldistancing and, where possible, we allow our employees to work remotely from their home. In addition, we communicate openly and honestly in line with our values, including with our customers and partners.

Our team remains available for any questions and relying on virtual trainings and telephone support to offer you the best service possible. Although in-person visits are severely reduced, our experts remain committed to ensuring you get the most out of your instrument.
Shipment of orders
Our production site in Switzerland runs as of today (March 31, 2020) at full capacity. The temporary shutdown of our glass production in India does not lead to any supply shortage due to increased capacity in Switzerland.
BUCHI Operations is in close contact with suppliers worldwide in order to detect a delay in deliveries or other interruptions of our Supply Chain as early as possible. Currently, we see the biggest risks from limited shipping capacity to certain countries. Potential obstacles are closely monitored and suitable steps pro-actively are taken.
Neither The Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Denmark, nor Sweden are currently affected.
As of today, we can keep our normal delivery lead times with very few exceptions. For products that are not available or delayed, we communicate the delivery times through our sales channels immediately.
We are available to answer any of your questions via telephone or in a virtual meeting, as per your preference. Our order processing remains unaffected.

The safety of our employees is our top priority. Most employees are working remotely, and highest safety measures are available for those on-site. We continue to closely monitor the situation and react accordingly to meet the latest government regulations.
