The optimal unit for every application
The success of BUCHI products is due to the logical implementation of customer requirements and wishes in our instruments and products. Nevertheless, there are customer requirements that cannot be met with a standard unit. In these cases a custom unit is manufactured. BUCHI can accommodate widely varying customer wishes that range from a special lid for an evaporating flask through to a fully modified R-250 large rotary evaporator.
Examples for convincing customized solutions for the Rotavapor R-220
One unit for high boiling solvents and foaming products
Customer request:
A Rotavapor R-220 for frequent distillation of high boiling solvents and sometimes for foaming products is requested.
Customized solution:
The Rotavapor R-220 is equipped with a reflux condenser for high boiling solvents. In unchilled use, the reflux glass assembly works as an expansion vessel for foaming products.
The Rotavapor R-220 in a fume hood
Customer request:
A Rotavapor R-220 with a maximum height of 1.30 m for the installation in a fume hood is requested.
Customized Solution:
A compact condenser in an angle of 25°C was installed. This modification reduces the installation height to 1.25 m.
Non-standard joints on a receiving flask
Customer request:
A modified receiving flask with a special shut off tap and 2 ball joints at the top is requested for the Rotavapor R-220.
Customized solution:
The receiving flasks is produced without outlet tap at the bottom but contain 2 ball joints at the top (1x DN25 and 1x DN40). The non-standard shut off tap is also optimally adapted to the customers need.
The Rotavapor R-220 with 1L evaporating flask
Customer request:
An adapter is requested to handle also smaller STJ-flasks on the Rotavapor R-220. This combination is very useful if there is not enough space for a labsize Rotavapor available.
Customized solution:
To enable the use of small evaporating flasks with STJ for the R-220, an special flanged adapter with NS29,2/32 was developed.
Examples for convincing customized solutions for the Rotavapor R-250 EX
Flexibility with high safety standards
Customer request:
Additional safety with a metal protector in harsh industrial use and additional protection of the glass parts is required. In addition a combination of the descending glass assembly with a reflux function is requested by the laboratory.
Customized solution:
A sideway slitted perforated metal-grid protector allows the view on the scaling of the receiving flasks and provides the optimum safety for the R-250 EX receiving flasks. The special combination of the metal-grid and the well known "Plastic+Glas" coating for additional safety in harsh industrial use provides an excellent protection.
In the ascending part, the expansion vessels are replaced by two condensers. By cooling the consensers, the workflow under reflux is generated. The compact designed condensers equipped with five cooling coils in parallel provides the same cooling capacity as the standard condensers but without increasing the height.
Continuous distillation
Customer request:
The Rotavapor R-250 EX for continuous distillation of 50 litres without interruption for changing the receiving flasks is asked by a customer.
Customized solution:
The R-250 EX is equipped with a 50 litre receiving flask instead of 2 x 20 litre flasks.
Examples for customized solutions for the heating bath
Customer request:
Cooling possibility for cooling down the product after distillation is required.
Customized solution:
As for the distillation process oil is used as heating medium, it is impossible to add ice or cold water to cool down the heating medium. To achieve the best chilling effect, a cooling coil connected to an external chiller is attached to the heating bath.
