Awards
An integral component of BUCHI's engagement in near infrared spectroscopy is the sponsorship of advances in the field of NIR spectroscopy. For the last years, the BUCHI NIRAwards have been assigned annually for outstanding contributions to NIR spectroscopy.
Beginning in 2004 BUCHI took over the sponsorship of the highly recognised and prestigious Tomas Hirschfeld Award. This prize is awarded annually at the Pittsburgh Conference for significant contributions to the growth of near-infrared spectroscopy. The process of inviting nominations and selecting the annual winner of the Tomas Hirschfeld Award is performed by of the International Council for Near Infrared Spectroscopy (ICNIRS) through the Chairman's Advisory Committee.
In conjunction with the additional sponsorship of the Tomas Hirschfeld Award the target of the BUCHI NIRAward has been reconsidered. Since 2004 it is awarded to young scientists, who have worked during their diploma or doctoral thesis in the field of near-infrared spectroscopy achieving outstanding results. Since then it is named BUCHI Young Scientists NIRAward.
The contributions will be judged by an international jury of recognised experts. The award is presented at public meetings at which the winner is expected to present his results.
